Go For Gold

Growing up I wasn't one to eye my mum's or grandmother's jewelry, they were pieces of their personalities that blended with just who they were.

Fast-forward 15 years to one snowy Christmas Eve where Mark and I were about to head out to relatives for some visiting and spreading some cheer. He insisted that we had to exchange gifts that night rather than the morning to come. He seemed a little off but I didn't think much of it. As I grabbed his present from under our sad Charlie Brown tree he ran downstairs and right back up again with a shoe-box sized gift.

The rest of the night is somewhat of a blur, because my engagement ring was inside that box (of course I said yes and here we are 6 years later), but the moment I laid my eyes on the ring I was hooked. White gold, emerald cut diamonds, smaller pavè diamonds along the sides and perfect in every way.

Luckily for my husband, I wasn't crazy specific when it came to jewelry and he knew me well enough to know which style and design of ring would match my personality and lifestyle.

Rings have become such a sign of love, importance, financial security and almost a prestige in society.

Styles have changed over the years but the meaning behind them always remained.

My favorite kind???

The sweet, intricate design of a vintage, dainty ring always seems to catch my eyes now; and I often find myself looking online for any deals or possible purchases to obtain one. I have yet to meet my "match". Don't get me wrong, I do love a solitaire diamond, and let's not forget clusters which give off the most unique and beautiful shine.

What I find even more beautiful is the story, history and the people behind engagement rings and what they represent. I am extremely blessed and lucky to have found a lifelong partner that I proudly get to represent on my left hand. We've come a long way and brought two beautiful children into our lives, which I hope one day will ask about my wedding rings and what they mean to me.
